The Absolute Best Street Style & Beauty Looks Seen at 2019 Afropunk Festival
This year we spotted knotless braids, all-white looks and more.
Afropunk‘s annual Brooklyn music festival is all about individual style. The large celebration held at the spacious Commodore Park has recently expanded to Paris and Atlanta. The two-day-long event is well known for attracting a crowd that’s unafraid to experiment with colors, patterns, hairstyles and much more. Each year, Afropunk’s festival attendees show up with stunning Afros, intricate jewelry and rare pieces. 2019’s lineup featured big names including Jill Scott, Tierra Wack, Tank & The Bangas, Ravyn Lenae and Goldlink to name a few.
The biggest trends that we spotted inside the festival grounds included pastel tones, all-white looks, primary colors mixed with black and translucent separates. In terms of beauty, the park was filled with attendees who creatively utilized colorful eyeliner, diamond-inspired face gems and neon eyeshadow looks. If you’ve never been to Afropunk, it’s important that you know that the hair looks take center stage every year. 2019’s hair featured a plethora of braiding styles with extensions: box braids, straight backs and of course the trend of the moment knotless braids. Natural hair also was on full display, showgoers donned their Afros in an assortment of styles as well.
