Virgil Abloh's Off-White™ SS20 Show Is All About Woman Power
Inspired by extraterrestrial forces.
While Virgil Abloh is currently taking time off due to his medical condition, Off-White™ revealed a meteor shower-inspired range for the Spring/Summer 2020 runway at Paris Fashion Week. Seen on the catwalk with models like Gigi and Bella Hadid were twisted and warped patterns, contrasting fabrics, unusual draping methods and more.
“The fundamental concept is to illustrate a woman’s power. To show that her spirit is indestructible by natural forces. She can withstand a “meteor shower” both metaphorically and physically speaking,” Virgil Abloh stated in a press release. For this season, the designer focused on creating garments that are used as tools to help accentuate the Off-White™ woman’s dynamism and resilience.
Standout looks include fishnet dresses, along with simple items like boots, tank tops and pants with cut-out detailing, taking inspiration from the main concept of the collection: meteor showers and extraterrestrial forces. New pieces were seen on the catwalk including the Jitney bag perforated with holes, as well as coats sporting a linear print created in collaboration with industrial designer duo Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.
