Cartier Debuts New, Limited-Edition Tank Asymétrique Watches

Bringing back the iconic style that first debuted in 1936.

Having unveiled its new Pasha timepieces earlier this year, Cartier has now introduced six new iterations of its Tank Asymétrique watches. The range, which arrives as part of the Privé collection that spotlights the brand’s signature designs, brings back the silhouette that originally debuted back in 1936.

A variation of the house’s famous Tank watch that first emerged in 1917, the updated design sees the dial shifted 30 degrees to the right, making the iconic rectangular seem like a diamond. Even Arabic numerals are placed onto the watch face, with 12 at the upper right corner. Maintaining the original design, the updated timepieces come with the Manufacture 1917 MC movement, which is held in different cases and straps for diverse looks. Styles include a pink gold watch with a gray dial and strap, and yellow gold watch with a champagne dial and brown strap. In addition to the classic designs, the Tank Asymétrique comes with a skeleton movement that reveals the inner structure of the timepiece. The watch sees the 12 and 6 blown up on each end of the face.

Take a closer look in the gallery above. Each style of Cartier’s Tank Asymétrique will be arriving in a limited edition of 100 pieces.
