Instagram Goes Retro on This Conceptual Handheld Device

From Nike clogs to luxe sneaker-shaped handbags, we’ve seen a slew of digital renderings of designs inspired by some of our favorite brands and products today. Now, France-based art director Julien Rivoire has shared a conceptual look at a “handheld Instagram device.” Spotlighting our longing for the past with a retro silhouette resembling a Game Boy or Nintendo DS, this imaginary item is dressed in the social media platform’s signature purple-to-yellow gradient hue. The foldable gadget reveals a square screen on the lid and a series of buttons at the bottom, including Instagram’s many features such as likes, comments and DMs.
In addition to the social media-inspired rendering, Rivoire has previously worked on other retro designs such as a Windows 98 sliding puzzle and a set of stairs covered with Start menu buttons. You can head over to the artist’s Instagram feed to see more.
