Virgil Abloh Unveils Pastel Blue Furniture Collection
Made in collaboration with Swiss design studio Vitra.
Virgil Abloh has unveiled his latest work in furniture design, a limited-edition range of pastel blue pieces created with Swiss design company Vitra. The duo update classic creations by French architect Jean Prouvé, paying homage to the historic designer while adding their own contemporary touches.
Abloh revamps Prouvé’s Antony chair with a pastel blue base and clear plexiglass shell. Also rendered in a blue lacquer finish is the Potence lamp, encased in an industrial white cage. Lastly, a series of blue ceramic blocks — an Abloh original — serve as design objects and storage. “To me, design always has the inherent idea of being a bridge from the past, with an eye towards the future…I loved the idea of introducing some Prouvé classics to a generation today that might not know the importance of his work,” Abloh said of the collaboration.
The “Virgil Abloh c/o Vitra” collection ranges from $179 to $2,789 USD at the Basic.Space website.
