Kim Jones Curates His Favorite Works by Cindy Sherman, Richard Prince and More For Sotheby's
For the auction house’s March “Contemporary Curated” lot.
Dior Men’s Artistic Director Kim Jones has been tapped to select his favorite works for Sotheby’s March “Contemporary Curated” lot, a monthly sale of art that spans the past seven decades. Surveying Sotheby’s 250 pre-existing lots on offer, Jones lent his artistic eye as guest curator, picking landmark pieces by Cindy Sherman, Richard Prince and Ed Ruscha. “Both fashion and art are within culture, and I draw inspiration from both,” the designer explained in a statement.
Cindy Sherman’s painstakingly posed portrait Untitled Film Still #62 is estimated to be worth between $100,000 and $150,000 USD while Untitled (Joke) by Richard Prince will likely take in over half a million. Jones’ curatorial selection also includes works by George Condo, David Hockney, Nick Cave and Yoshitomo Nara.
Kim Jones and Sotheby’s “Contemporary Curated” March selections will be on public view at Sotheby’s New York City gallery from February 28 to March 5. The lot, viewable at Sotheby’s website, goes on sale March 6.
