LOEWE Celebrates Late Drag Queen Divine With New Collection and Virtual Exhibition
15% of the proceeds will be donated to Visual AIDS.
LOEWE has unveiled its latest collection inspired by the late drag queen and actor Divine, also known as Harris Glenn Milstead. The capsule consists of three tees and a Cushion tote bag that boast bold graphics and feature elements from Divine’s signature looks.
Divine was labeled as the “filthiest person alive” and starred in several iconic movies such as Pink Flamingos and Hairspray. The icon left a huge impact on pop culture as he “preempted the glorification of trash, the mix of high and low, and the fantastic erasure of gender barriers,” according to a press release. In addition to this range, the fashion house is set to host a virtual exhibition conceptualized by its Creative Director Jonathan Anderson. The exhibit will showcase Divine memorabilia shot by the legendary Greg Gorman and Divine himself, which will run from June 25 until the end of September via LOEWE’s website.
Fifteen percent of the proceeds from the capsule will be donated to Visual AIDS, an organization that utilizes art to fight HIV/AIDS. The label will also contribute to Black-led LGBTQ+ organization Baltimore Pride, as well as Divine’s hometown.
LOEWE’s “Divine” limited collection will be available to purchase online and at the brand’s Greene Street store in New York on June 25.
