Bernie Sanders' Inauguration Mittens Are Up for Auction
Proceeds will go to LGBTQ+ charity Outright Vermont.
Bernie Sanders fans can now get their hands on — or rather, in — a pair of mittens knitted by Jen Ellis, the schoolteacher who gifted the Vermont senator the cozy pair he sported to Joe Biden’s inauguration earlier this month.
In partnership with LGBTQ+ youth organization Outright Vermont, Ellis is auctioning off a pair of Bernie-style mittens, handmade from repurposed wool sweaters. Dubbed the “XO Mitten,” the cool weather accessory is lined with fleece made from recycled bottles. Though they aren’t the exact pair Sanders wore, the XO Mitten channels the politician with a faire isle pattern rendered in shades of blue, the color of the Democratic party.
Head to the Charity Auctions Today website to bid on Ellis’s XO Mitten. Bidding is currently at $4,444 USD, and all proceeds will benefit Outright Vermont.
