Learn How To Make Vietnamese Tet Noodles With Chef Jimmy Ly of Madame Vo
Craft the fan favorite dish from home.
Since opening in 2017, Madame Vo has become New York City‘s go-to spot for Vietnamese homestyle cooking, serving up hearty rice and noodle dishes in Manhattan’s East Village. One of the restaurant‘s fan-favorite dishes is tet noodles, egg noodles stir fried with garlic butter and fish sauce. Madame Vo chef and owner Jimmy Ly is giving HYPEBAE readers a look at how to re-create the delicious classic at home.
Though the finished result might look unattainable, cooking tet noodles isn’t as tricky as it seems. Ingredients including egg noodles and fish sauce can be picked up at your local Asian grocery, while basics such as shrimp, garlic and butter are easily found at any store. Tomato paste, heavy cream, fish sauce, pepper and sugar make a tangy-sweet sauce while oil-crisped garlic is set aside as a savory topping. Shrimp takes only a few minutes to cook in a pan. The protein is then mixed together with the noodles and sauce, as well as melted butter. Top with scallions, cilantro and your garlic and voilà — you have your very own bowl of tet noodles.
