Byredo Launches New Smoky Perfume, Mumbai Noise
A scent that explores the city’s cultural heritage.
Following the release of “Young Rose,” Ben Gorham is back with a new perfume scent for Byredo. Dubbed Mumbai Noise, the fragrance is an olfactory portrait of the city.
“From a young age, almost as soon as I was born, I would often travel to India to spend time with my grandmother in Chember, Mumbai,” Gorham recalls in a press release. “I have very vivid childhood memories of my experiences there — and, after she passed, it wasn’t until my 20s that I returned. When I did, it looked extremely different — but still felt extremely familiar.” He adds that the new scent is an “exploration of the city today, anchored in [his] memories of its past.”
The nostalgic perfume features a base of labdanum, sandalwood and agarwood, layered with middle notes of tonka beans and coffee. It is rounded out with top notes of davana for a woody, smoky aroma. As usual, the formula is packaged in Byredo’s signature minimalist bottle.
Priced at €135 EUR (approximately $157 USD) for the 50mL bottle and €190 EUR (approximately $221 USD) for the 100mL iteration, Mumbai Noise is now available at Byredo’s stores.
