Cecilie Bahnsen Launches Its First Handbag Collection

The Danish designer collaborates with Japanese brand Chacoli to create a classic tote bag.

Danish womenswear brand Cecilie Bahnsen has unveiled its latest “Encore” collection, its first capsule collection of handbags made in partnership with Chacoli, a Japanese heritage handbag brand. Crafted from the leftover fabric of British outerwear company Mackintosh, the range of bags marry form and function, providing an elegant carry-on solution for everyday use.

Chacoli and Bahnsen have imagined the signature structural totes in vibrant hues of black, white, gray, blue and yellow with playful embellished accents. Evoking both a feminine and masculine aesthetic, the exclusive collection of handbags are created to withstand the time. Meticulously designed, the tote bags also come in a variety of shapes to suit the individual wearer. Featuring compartmental dividers, the tote bags are ideal for staying organized on the go.

View the lookbook above captured by Japanese artist Fumiko Imano who met Bahnsen at Dover Street Market and collaborated with the designer to create the visual campaign. “It’s more like armor. It’s more about strong but feminine women,” says the renowned photographer about Bahnsen’s designs.

The limited-run 10th “Encore” collection is available exclusively on Cecilie Bahnsen’s website, Dover Street Market London and Dover Street Market Ginza. See the designs below.
