Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello Announce They're No Longer Together
After two years of dating.
Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello call it quits after dating for two years. The “Señorita” singers each took to their respective Instagram Stories to announce the split.
“Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever,” they each posted on November 17. “We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward. Camila and Shawn.”
Cabello and Mendes took their relationship public in July 2019 after being friends for years. The former couple became pals back in 2014 when Mendes and Cabello, as part of Fifth Harmony, opened for Austin Mahone on tour.
Since becoming a couple, the musicians have been open about their dating life on both social media and in the public eye, professing their love for one another in interviews and songs. In December 2022, Mendes revealed to Entertainment Tonight that he “absolutely” pictures a future with his now-ex-girlfriend. “I think for me it’s always been if I’m not willing to talk about that stuff then I kind of check out a little bit, and I don’t know, I really think when you know, you know,” he said at the time.
