Emma Watson on the "Big Problem" 'Harry Potter' Cast Faced While Filming the First Movie
The actor reminisces on the early days.
The Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts reunion will seemingly include many inside scoops, and Emma Watson is letting fans in on one of them. In a clip posted on HBO Max‘s official YouTube, the actor revealed one major issue she and former cast mates Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint faced while filming Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
“A big problem was like, throughout a take, our attention would like wane and come and go,” Watson said. At that time, the three Harry Potter stars’ ages ranged from 10 to 12.
Director Chris Columbus added, “They’d say a line and then they’d smile at the camera or they were just so happy to be in a Harry Potter film that they couldn’t contain their excitement long enough to focus on an entire scene.”
According to Radcliffe, being playful on set was another issue. “We were very much just like, kids being kids on a set,” he explained. “They probably made their jobs harder for themselves by letting us have as my fun as we had because it distracted us from the work, you know, we were supposed to be doing.”
