Pixar’s trailer for the animated film has ignited an online frenzy.
Earlier this morning, Pixar released the official trailer for Luca, an animated film about two boys who become close friends during a summer spent on the Italian Riviera. Twitter users have taken the trailer and run with it, raising parallels between the children’s movie and Call Me By Your Name, another flick involving an unforgettable summer in Northern Italy. There is one key difference between the films, though: the two main characters in Luca are sea monsters, a secret they’re hiding from everyone else in their town. Whether the plot twist is a veiled reference to Elio and Oliver’s relationship or something entirely different, Pixar’s latest has Twitter talking — so much so that Call Me By Your Name was briefly trending on the platform.
