A Documentary on Céline Dion's Life Is in the Works
Music’s biggest pop diva gets her own film.
Music and style icon Céline Dion is set to receive her very own documentary focused on her personal life and career journey.
According to a press release, “the documentary will serve as the definitive feature for one of the most immediately recognized, widely respected and successful performers in pop music history. It will also be made “with Dion’s full participation and support.”
Directed by Oscar-nominated American filmmaker Irene Taylor, the untitled project will be produced by Sony Music Entertainment’s (SME) Premium Content division and Sony Music Entertainment Canada and Vermilion Films. “I’ve always been an open book with my fans, and with her sensitivity and thoughtful creativity I think that Irene will be able to show everyone a part of me that they haven’t seen before,” Dion shared. “I know she’ll tell my story in the most honest and heartfelt way.”
Known for her hit singles like “Because You Loved Me,” “The Power of Love” and Titanic‘s theme song “My Heart Will Go On,” Dion has sold more than 250 million albums across the globe and won multiple awards since she started her music career. Taylor hopes to go discover more about Dion’s story in her interview for the documentary.
“Going on this journey with a legendary artist such as Céline Dion is an extraordinary opportunity for me as a filmmaker,” Taylor said. “Having access to examine her life and inimitable career, will allow me to create a multifaceted portrait of an iconic, global superstar, which I look forward to sharing with the world.”
