Disney's 'The Little Mermaid' Live-Action Film Receives a Release Date
Starring Halle Bailey, Awkwafina, Melissa McCarthy and more.
Disney has officially announced the release date of its The Little Mermaid live-action remake.
The film will star Halle Bailey as Ariel, Jonah Hauer-King as Prince Eric, Melissa McCarthy as Ursula, Awkwafina as Scuttle, Jacob Tremblay as Flounder, Javier Bardem as King Triton and Daveed Diggs as Sebastian. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this remake is a part of the Mickey Mouse company’s mysterious 2023 and 2024 lineup. In addition to The Little Mermaid, four Marvel titles are set to premiere in 2024 as well as two Pixar films.
Back in July, Bailey revealed that the movie completed production and shared what her filming experience was like amid COVID-19. “And just like that… that’s a wrap. After auditioning for this film when I was 18 just about to turn 19, to now finishing filming through a pandemic when I turned 21… We have finally made it,” Bailey wrote on Instagram. “I feel so grateful to have experienced this film in all of its glory… It has been the toughest experience being away from everything and everyone I’ve ever known, to feeling self-doubt/loneliness, but also feeling such freedom and perseverance as I’ve reached the end.”
The Little Mermaid live-action movie will premiere on May 26, 2023. Stay tuned while we wait for the official trailer.
