Jennifer Lawrence Mimics Elizabeth Holmes' Deep Voice in New Movie
The ‘Hunger Games’ actor will portray the disgraced former CEO of Theranos.
After taking on the meaty political role in Netflix’s highly popular film, Don’t Look Up, Jennifer Lawrence is taking a slightly more meta approach to her new part as disgraced Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes, imitating her trademark deep-throated voice.
Based on John Carreyrou’s 2018 nonfiction book, Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley, the film explores the journey of the Silicon Valley business that claimed to be able to detect diseases with a few mere drops of blood. Holmes was recently found guilty of fraud and conspiracy. Breaking ground, the Silver Linings Playbook actor will be one of the first to portray Holmes onscreen.
The film is directed by Adam McKay who also directed Don’t Look Up. Regarding the actor’s upcoming performance, McKay said to Insider, “You know, I haven’t made her do [the voice] for me yet. She said she’s been working on it. She’s about to have a baby so I’m not going to bug her right now but she’s born to play that role. With the voice, she said she’s feeling it. She’s excited.”
