LOEWE's 'Spirited Away' Collection Is Everything We Could Dream Of
Captured by Juergen Teller, featuring Dua Saleh and more.
Cementing its sacred partnership, LOEWE unveils its latest Studio Ghibli installment, based on the animator’s hit movie, Spirited Away. The collection comes 20 years after the movie’s initial release and provides a heartwarming rendition of its widely loved characters and settings.
Comprised of ready-to-wear garments, handbags and even homeware, fans of Spirited Away will be able to sport the playful collection wherever they go. Across the range, Loewe draws on the movie’s iconic snapshots as inspiration — including protagonist Chihiro and Kaonashi’s train scene — as they are digitally printed on oversized t-shirts, hoodies and cardigans.
From the boxy Puzzle to the everyday tote, a selection of LOEWE’s bestselling bags also feature images of characters Yubaba, Fly-Bird and Haku plastered on their colorful leather bodies.
Not only is the new collection a celebration of the movie, but also Japan’s traditional craft techniques. In more conceptual additions to the collection, LOEWE adopts “Boro”; a technique that sews swatches of dyed fabric together similar to patchwork. Furry motifs of the Susuwatari soot sprites also come dotted across the occasional jumper and bag adding to the fun and whimsical feel of the collection.
For the campaign, fashion photographer Juergen Teller captures the collection modeled on rising talent such as Dua Saleh and Hyunji Shin.
The collection is now available to shop on LOEWE’s website.
