Netflix To Tell Story of Notorious Con Man in True Crime Documentary, 'Tinder Swindler'
You’ll think twice about swiping right after watching this trailer.
The true-crime title tells the story of a notorious Russian-Israeli con-man named Shimon Hayut, who scammed women he matched with on Tinder. The 31-year-old faked his profile as a billionaire called “Simon Leviev” on the app, asking victims to open lines of credit for him under their names.
Hayut was imprisoned in December 2019 on a 15-month sentence, although he ended up serving only five months. A Finnish woman claimed that she had lost $49,000 USD: “I’m a single mom to a daughter and I gave him all the savings I had. It’s a disgrace that they released him from prison.”
