APOC Store Spotlights 5 Underrepresented Designers in New Grant Program
The designers are offered a £1,000 GBP and mentorship program.
Earlier this year, APOC Store — the marketplace for rising designers in fashion and art — announced a new grant program in an effort to support underrepresented names in the field. The platform has now selected five recipients of the grants, launching exclusive capsule collections from each designer on its site.
“Through these grants, APOC Store hopes to break down the financial and systemic barriers to entering the industry and starting your own brand or practice,” the store explains in a press release. Each designer receives a £1,000 GBP (approximately $1,135 USD) grant going towards the development of their respective labels, in addition to a six-month mentorship program with bi-weekly sessions with the APOC Store team and artists from the community.
Recipients of the APOC Grant include YAKU, who takes inspiration from nature and the human form to create sculptural pieces, and Jules Bramley, who created a capsule exploring rebirth and transformation. Shanghai-based designer Yinglin He, a rising name focusing on various silhouettes and shapes, created a collection with elements of maximalism and deconstructionism. British-born, Pakistani textile print designer Hadiyah Hussain took to the archives of hand-woven and screenprinted pieces for the APOC Grant, while EEGGNET, a creative studio by Yining Sun, is launching experimental pieces inspired by the city landscape.
