Disney Introduces Its First-Ever Plus-Size Protagonist Navigating Body Dysmorphia

‘Reflect’ tells an emotional story of a ballet dancer.

In recent years, Disney has made efforts to be inclusive, and their recent film Reflect proves that by featuring a plus-size heroine.

While Disney films have previously featured plus-size characters in their films — mostly as villains or extras — this is the first time one is the main character. Reflect tells the story of Bianca, a young plus-size ballet dancer. Bianca “battles her own reflection, overcoming doubt and fear by channeling her inner strength, grace and power.”

Reflect is part of Disney’s all-new Short Circuit Experimental Film series; it’s currently streaming on Disney+.
