Is Target Really About to Collaborate with Balenciaga?
The retailer may well be expanding, but not in the way you think.
Retail chain Target has been the talk of the news cycle recently, for a pretty unlikely reason.
A viral video by creator Dan Bravo showcasing an all-new “Target Black” store recently surfaced on TikTok, leading consumers to believe that the retailer was set to open a “premium concept store” stocking “exclusive lines” from Balenciaga and Supreme.
The video featured a voice-over from the creator who claimed to be working on a commercial for the store, resulting in thousands of comments and likes, despite the fact that Target’s own TikTok account also commented on the video explaining that the building shown was in fact their New York office.
Rumors have since been dispelled, as a Target representative spoke to Insider about the so-called store, Target said, ‘The building featured in the video is the exterior of some of our office space in New York City. The content of the video is not accurate.” The representative went on to confirm that Target will at least be expanding in some sense of the word, though it’s more likely to be in the form of a store in Chelsea.
While the Target Black store may not be real or shoppable, at least Kim Kardashian’s taped Balenciaga hourglass bag is.
