CELINE Visits Saint-Tropez for Women's Summer 2023 Runway Collection

Inspired by CELINE‘s connection to Saint-Tropez, Hedi Slimane uses the French coastal town as the focal point of the luxury brand’s Summer 2023 runway collection.
With models strutting down the ocean-side runway, the elegant garments are immediately infused with the setting’s spirit of joie de vivre. The assortment of apparel expertly juxtaposes shapes and silhouettes as jersey and crochet tops reminiscent of swimwear are worn with boxy blazers and edgy leather jackets, which have been re-proportioned for a narrower fit.
Tapping into nostalgia, the fashion label brings back the archival skinny jeans that initially launched in the early aughts. While Gen Z make have their noses turned up at the sleek pants, the ultra-tapered denim is instantly reinvigorated as its paired with timeless suede jackets outfitted with regal gold buttons and shimmering ballet flats.
Accentuating a look approved by Serena Van Der Woodsen is the CELINE “Conti” handbag, adding volume and size where the skinny jeans are lacking. The saddle bag is hand-finished in supple leather and appears in “Polished Black,” as well as “Amber Crocodile.” Meanwhile, the range of clothing continues to channel its love of Y2K with a healthy offering of low-waisted mini-skirts in a myriad of fabrics, from leather and denim to a military print. Elsewhere, nautical striped shirts are paired with leg-baring shorts and boyish sailor caps, alongside a two-piece skirt set that balances its primness with a bikini top underneath.
