Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, Wants You to STFU About Sexuality — Specifically "Sluts"
“Your sexuality, oftentimes, can be very much used against you.”
The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, took to her podcast, Archetypes, to discuss sexuality and the plethora of sh-tty not-so-hot-takes she’s had to endure.
Markle has experienced a horrible journey with the media’s sexist and racist comments and has always been vocal about the harm that it causes. In the case of sexuality, she’s no different. In the episode, she begins by sharing “I don’t understand what it is about the stigma surrounding women and their sexuality and the exploration of their sexuality that is so much more vilified than for a man.”
Naturally, as you become older, you learn new things about your sexual body that can either be fun AF or intimidating. For example, learning you might be kinkier than you thought after a bout of celibacy.
“As you’re getting older, you’re exploring and starting to understand your sensuality, your feminine divine. Your sexuality, oftentimes, can be very much used against you,” she said.
And just when we thought we couldn’t love her more, she begins to discuss the gender disparities between sexuality and pleasure. For example, “A man, if he is a player, out having fun or whatever he’s doing, it’s often celebrated,” she says boldly. However, “for a woman, I don’t care if she’s perhaps the most successful woman in finance in her mid-50s, I promise you, someone will still go, ‘But she was such a slut in college.’”
And she did not lie.
