Missy Elliott Officially Has More Platinum Records Than Any Other Female Rapper
The hip-hop icon shares how she feels about this achievement.
Missy Elliott has achieved another major career milestone. The hip-hop legend now officially has the most platinum albums amongst all female rappers.
According to Chart Data, all six of Missy’s studio albums are certified platinum or higher with The Cookbook — her latest LP, released in 2005 — selling over one million units last month.
She took to Twitter to reveal how she feels about the major accomplishment. “This is a huge milestone!” she wrote. “No matter how long it took to get here, I am here, and I am humbly grateful to all my sisters in hip-hop. Y’all keep doing y’all thing and shining.”
The last couple of years have been filled with big wins for the iconic artist. In 2019, she was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame, making her the first female rapper to do so. That same year, she was received an MTV Vanguard Video Award. In 2021, she scored her very own star in the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
