The women who were being duped by “Simon Leviev,” or con man Shimon Hayut featured in the true-crime documentary The Tinder Swindler, have created a GoFundMe account to get their lives back on track.

The Netflix series follows the story of three women, Cecilie Schrøder FjellhøyPernilla Sjoholm and Ayleen Charlotte, who met an alleged son of a billionaire on Tinder. Unfortunately, Hayut was actually a con artist working with a team of other skilled artists to scheme these women. With Hayut posing as the son of a millionaire, these women were not alarmed when he asked them to fulfill outlandish favors for him. Amongst the three women, Hayut scammed thousands of dollars. The journey of the special follows these women as they attempt to find Simon and get their money back.

Now, after raising awareness of their Tinder experience gone wrong, they have turned to new measures to rectify the situation. The GoFundMe account has a goal of £600,000 GBP (approximately $813,068 USD) and has met £35,415 GBP (approximately $47,991 USD) as of Februrary 8. In the description for the fundraiser, the women share that they have received a lot of support and compassion. Viewers of the show actually suggested that they start a GoFundMe, which the women reveal they did not think of initially.

They go on to share that they want to raise awareness around situations like these to avoid others from being defrauded. Since the documentary released on the streaming platform, Hayut has been banned from Tinder.
