Apple Has Plans To Sell the iPhone as a Subscription Service

Services like AppleCare or Apple One could be sold as a bundle as well.

Bloomberg‘s latest report on Apple shares that the tech giant plans to sell its iPhones as a subscription service.

According to author Mark Gurman, the launch could possibly arrive in late 2022 or early 2023. It would make device ownership similar to paying a monthly fee for apps. While nothing has been officially confirmed so far, the move would follow Apple’s ongoing push for subscription services, which already include Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple News+, Apple Fitness+ and Apple Arcade.

As explained by Gurman, this could “make it easier for consumers to stomach spending thousands of dollars on new devices” while allowing the company to make more revenue. The subscription could potentially offer users the option to upgrade to a new device once it’s released. Services like AppleCare or Apple One could be included as a bundle as well.

Stay tuned as we learn more about Apple’s potential device subscription service.
