Anne Hathaway Beat Kelly Clarkson at Her Own Song
We guess the singer had her chance but blew it.
On March 22, Anne Hathaway made an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show to promote her new miniseries WeCrashed on Apple TV. However, that’s not all the actor did during her time with the 2002 American Idol winner.
“Sing That Name That Tune” is a segment on Clarkson‘s show where she and her guest compete against each other to guess the song being played by singing the lyrics first. For those who can recall, Hathaway does have a talent for singing, which she demonstrated in the 2004 film Ella Enchanted.
Already three points behind Hathaway, Clarkson wanted to redeem herself with the final guess. “Can you play a freaking song I’ll know?” the host pleaded to the band. Not even three seconds in, Hathaway immediately recognized the track and belted out the opening lyric of “Since You’ve Been Gone,” causing Clarkson to physically drop on her knees and lay face flat on the ground. “How?! How did you know it from just that?” she shrieked as she faced defeat. “Kelly Clarkson, if you do not understand how much we all love that song. Everybody here knew it on the first one. Everybody here knew it,” the Oscar-winning actor replied.
