Dua Lipa Sued for Alleged Copyright Infringement Over "Levitating" Single
The lawsuit was filed by Artikal Sound System, a Florida-based reggae band.
Dua Lipa is facing a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by a reggae band based in Florida. The group, called Artikal Sound System, has claimed that Lipa’s “Levitating” sounds like their 2017 song “Live Your Life.”
While the complaint, which was obtained by People, doesn’t include specific details about how the two songs are similar, the band has stated that the defendants “listened to and copied ‘Live Your Life’ before and during the time when they were writing ‘Levitating.’”
“‘Levitating’ is substantially similar to ‘Live Your Life,’” the complaint said. “Given the degree of similarity, it is highly unlikely that ‘Levitating’ was created independently from ‘Live Your Life.’”
Lipa’s rep nor Artikal Sound System’s attorney have commented on the matter. Stay tuned while we wait for more details on the case.
