Emma Mackey to Star Alongside Margot Robbie in Live-Action 'Barbie' Movie
The lookalikes will be sharing the big screen with Ryan Gosling.
Sex Education‘s Emma Mackey has reportedly taken on a role in the upcoming live-action Barbie movie, which will also star Margot Robbie as the lead and Ryan Gosling as Ken.
According to an insider, the French-British actor’s part in the film “is being closely guarded but it’s a big part and will really cement her evolution from small-screen actress to big-screen star.” While the movie’s plot has yet to be revealed, Robbie shared that it’s something fans won’t be expecting.
“We like the things that feel a little left of center. Something like Barbie where the intellectual property, the name itself … people immediately have an idea of, ‘Oh, Margot is playing Barbie, I know what that is.’” she said. “But our goal is to be like, ‘Whatever you’re thinking, we’re going to give you something totally different — the thing you didn’t know you wanted,’” she added.
