Serena Williams Is the Newest Member of Team Barbie
Joining her sister, Venus, on a star-studded athlete roster.
Launching just before International Day of the Girl, Barbie is continuing its mission to empower the next generation of leaders by officially welcoming 23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams to Team Barbie. Following the release of her one-of-a-kind Role Model doll earlier this year, the tennis icon and entrepreneur now gets her very own Barbie Signature collectible.
Paying homage to her legendary victory at the 2005 Australian Open — where she secured her seventh Singles title — the doll captures one of Williams’ most memorable on-court looks. The Barbie Signature model comes outfitted in a neon green and white cutout crop top featuring delicate mesh details, paired with a pleated white tennis skirt, white sweatbands, knee-high socks and sneakers. Naturally, the collectible comes complete with a tennis racket and ball in hand.
Beyond serving court-ready style, the collaboration reinforces a shared commitment to equity and representation. Speaking on the release, Williams highlighted the importance of visibility in a press release, saying “I want every girl who plays with this doll to see possibility — not just in me, but in herself. She can dream big, work hard, change direction, break barriers and become anything she chooses.”
As part of the launch, the Barbie Dream Gap Project is making a charitable donation to Mrs. Rina’s House of Blessings in Martin County, Florida, supporting education and leadership initiatives for local youth.
The Barbie Signature Serena Williams Doll is available to purchase now on the Mattel Creations website and select retailers.
In other news, Zendaya and On launched their second collaboration.
