Kanye West Defends His "Eazy" Music Video Featuring Pete Davidson Decapitated
Interpreting it as “art.”
After facing backlash, Kanye West is defending his and The Game‘s music video for “Eazy,” which includes kidnapping Pete Davidson, burying him alive and decapitating him.
“Art is therapy just like this view. Art is protected as freedom of speech,” Ye captioned an Instagram photo from the music video. “Art inspires and simplifies the world. Art is not a proxy for any ill or harm. Any suggestion otherwise about my art is false and mal intended.”
In addition to the music video, Ye made it previously known he was dissing Davidson when the song first leaked. He raps: “God saved me from that crash, just so I could beat Pete Davidson’s ass.”
Last month, amid Ye’s public pleas about Kim Kardashian and Davidson, the reality star asked the rapper to stop posting about the SNL comedian for safety reasons.
“You are creating a dangerous and scary environment and someone will hurt Pete and this will all be your fault,” the KKW Beauty mogul wrote to her now ex-husband via text, which he shared in a now-deleted Instagram post. “There are dangerous people out there and this is scary and it doesn’t have to be.”
Ye responded to her message, “I will always do everything to protect you and our family forever. And I listened to you and told everyone to make sure nothing physical happens to Skete.”
As a way to try and make the situation better, West captioned the post, “Upon my wife’s request, please nobody do anything physical to Skete. I’m going to handle the situation myself.”
