AZ Factory Invites Thebe Magugu as First "Amigo" to Design Upcoming Drop
A new model that aims to support emerging designers.
Thebe Magugu is the first “amigo” to partner with AZ Factory on the brand’s new collaborative model.
Much like Jean Paul Gaultier‘s Couture line, the label — founded by the late Alber Elbaz — will invite guest designers, or “amigos.” “AZ Factory evolves into a collaborative place where creative minds who share Alber Elbaz’s values develop projects around the core idea of smart fashion that cares,” a statement read. As revealed by Richemont’s CEO of Fashion and Accessories Philippe Fortunato, the brand will enlist “creative partners who believe in the founder’s vision and spirit.”
Through the program, the luxury fashion giant aims to support up-and-coming creatives. It further said in the announcement: “Richemont believes in nurturing talent and paving new roads for the luxury industry… AZ Factory’s central tenet will always be this smart and playful approach to fashion that is so meaningful to us. And today we are very happy to announce that Magugu, one of the industry’s most promising minds, is the first designer to join this new story for AZ Factory.”
The upcoming partnerships, including the first one with Magugu, will arrive in diverse forms, including unique drops, permanent collaborations, a single hero product or a full collection. Stay tuned for the South African designer’s first project with AZ Factory, which will be revealed in late March or early April.
