Karol G Honors Latinx Artists That Never Got the Chance to Perform at Coachella
Including Selena, Shakira, Celia Cruz and more.
Karol G took over the Coachella stage this past weekend and paid tribute to several Latinx artists in a special way. The Colombian singer gave a rendition of many hits that belonged to Latinx musicians who were never invited to perform at the music festival.
“These are the colors of my flag; I am from Colombia,” she told the crowd during her set. “Tonight, I feel so happy and so proud to represent my country and my Latina community around world. Now, I just want to have a moment in my show to honor Latina songs that were number one in the world but never were played on this stage but gave me the opportunity to be here.”
Karol G performed Selena‘s “Como La Flor,” Shakira‘s “Hips Don’t Lie,” Daddy Yankee‘s “Gasolina,” Celia Cruz‘s “La Vida Es Un Carnaval,” and more. She also performed her own hits, one of them being “MAMIII,” which she brought Becky G on stage for.
