Former Big Bang Member Seungri Sentenced to 1.5 Years in Prison
The retired musician, who was indicted for nine criminal charges, will be released in February 2023.
The Supreme Court of South Korea concluded that the retired musician is guilty of nine criminal charges including solicitation of illegal prostitution, illegal overseas gambling, spread of illegally filmed sexual content, embezzlement, threatening and assault. His sentence was halved earlier this year after the initial sentence of three years in prison. In addition to the charges, he was also fined ₩1.15 billion KRW (approximately $908,000 USD).
Ever since the end of his initial trial in August 2021, Seungri has been held in military prison. Under the Supreme Court’s decision, he will be moved from the military prison and to a civilian prison. As of now, the former musician faces nine months there and will be officially released in February 2023.
