Watch the First Trailer for 'The Idol,' Starring BLACKPINK's Jennie and The Weeknd
Described as “the sleaziest love story.”
Sam Levinson’s new HBO series The Idol finally has its first trailer and it looks like a pretty wild ride. Starring The Weeknd alongside Troye Sivan and Lily-Rose Depp, the show also was rumoured to feature BLACKPINK‘s Jennie, making her acting debut. Fans have now spotted the singer in the new trailer, so although no announcements have been made by HBO or Jennie herself, it’s safe to say that she’ll feature in the series in some capacity.
The six-part series is set to revolve around a “female pop singer who starts a romance with an enigmatic LA club owner turned secret cult leader,” played by Depp and The Weeknd. Opening with the words “From the sick and twisted minds of the Creator of Euphoria Sam Levinson and Abel ‘The Weekend’ Tesfaye,” the trailer describes the romance as “the sleaziest love story” so we’re intrigued to see what takes place.
