Ricky Martin Accused of Incest by His Nephew
The 50-year-old could face up to 50 years in prison if convicted.
Ricky Martin is facing allegations of incest and domestic violence filed by his 21-year-old nephew.
A Puerto Rico judge issued a “domestic violence-related” restraining order against the 50-year-old pop star, according to reports. While the name of the victim hasn’t been disclosed, Spanish outlet Marca reported the singer’s brother Eric Martin is claiming that the victim is Dennis Yadiel Sanchez, the “Livin’ La Vida Loca” singer’s 21-year-old nephew.
The musician is being accused of “exercising physical and psychological attacks” throughout his seven-month relationship with Sanchez that ended roughly two months ago, while Martin’s attorney Marty Singer responded: “Unfortunately, the person who made this claim is struggling with deep mental health challenges. Ricky Martin has, of course, never been — and would never be — involved in any kind of sexual or romantic relationship with his nephew.”
Singer added: “The idea is not only untrue, it is disgusting. We all hope that this man gets the help he so urgently needs. But, most of all, we look forward to this awful case being dismissed as soon as a judge gets to look at the facts.”
According to Puerto Rico’s laws, if convicted, Martin could face up to 50 years in jail. The artist is expected to show up in court on July 21 for trial.
