“It’s attainable,” she says.

For years, Kim Kardashian has received backlash for being accused of setting unrealistic beauty standards. However, the reality star doesn’t feel like that’s the case.

“If I’m doing it, it’s attainable,” she told Allure for her latest cover story. “There are so many different beauty standards — whether it’s Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, Marilyn Monroe.”

Kardashian also elaborated on what beauty standards were like when she was growing up. “When I was a teenager, [the look] was just blonde waifs, and then I saw Salma Hayek, who was so beautiful and had darker hair and darker skin and more curves,” she explained. “And she looked more like me. My mentality was never like, you see them on TV or in magazines and pick who you want to be. It was always: Be yourself, find beauty in everything.”

Recently, the SKIMS founder was criticized for losing 16 pounds in three weeks in order to fit into Monroe’s dress for the 2022 Met Gala. The beauty mogul defended herself, comparing the rapid weight loss to actors transforming their bodies for a role.

“I looked at it like a role,” she said during a recent interview on the Today show. “I really wanted to wear this dress. It was really important to me. It actually taught me a lot about my lifestyle and my health and since then, afterwards, I continued to eat really healthy. I am down 21 pounds now. I’m not trying to lose any more weight but I have more energy than ever. I cut out so much sugar. A lot of junk food I was eating. I didn’t even realize it. A lot of fried foods. And I completely changed my lifestyle.”
