'Euphoria's Maude Apatow Addresses Being Labeled a "Nepotism Baby"
She’s daughter to film director Judd Apatow and actor Leslie Mann.
While Maude Apatow‘s talent speaks for itself, there will always be critics discrediting her skills as an actor. In a new interview with Net-a-Porter, Apatow shared her thoughts on often being called a “nepotism baby.”
“At first, I was sad,” she told the publication. “I try not to let it get to me because I obviously understand that I’m in such a lucky position. A lot of people have proven themselves over the years, so I’ve got to keep going and make good work. It’s so early in my career, I don’t have much to show yet, but hopefully one day I’ll be really proud of the stuff I’ve done by myself.”
Apatow got her start in film by starring in a couple of movies alongside her mom, Leslie Mann. The Euphoria star appeared in Knocked Up (2007), Funny People (2009) and This Is 40 (2012), which were all directed by her dad, Judd Apatow. Though in some ways having parents already in the industry made it easier, it also made it more difficult for her because she felt pressure to be perfect. “I try not to think about that so much, but it definitely drives me,” she said. “I feel like I really need to prove myself, so I work extra hard.”
