Zac Efron Addresses Plastic Surgery Rumors About His Jaw

It turns out, it was a total accident.

Zac Efron has addressed the speculation that he had plastic surgery on his face. The High School Musical alum revealed that the reason his face appears to look different is because he fractured his jaw.

Around four years ago, Efron shattered his jaw after he slipped while running at home with socks on. During the fall, he hit his chin against the granite corner of a fountain, which caused him to lose consciousness. When he finally awoke, he remembers seeing his chin bone hanging off his face.

According to Men’s Health, “the masseter muscles, used for chewing, work together with the other muscles of the face ‘like a symphony’; when he was injured, the muscles on the inside of his face and jaw had to compensate. He works with a specialist and does physical therapy to mediate this, he says, but in Australia he took some time off from that, too. ”

As a result, that contributed to the transformation. Efron said, “The masseters just grew. They just got really, really big.”

Efron revealed that he first found out about the plastic surgery speculation happening on social media through his mom, adding that he’d rather avoid that side of the internet. “If I valued what other people thought of me to the extent that they may think I do,” he told the outlet. “I definitely wouldn’t be able to do this work.”
