Here's an Official Look at Loewe's Final Studio Ghibli Collaboration

Spotlighting the iconic film ‘Howl’s Moving Castle.’

Loewe is back with another Studio Ghibli collaboration, marking the last release of the partnership that commenced in 2021.

Following the My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away collections, Jonathan Anderson has worked with Hayao Miyazaki once again to spotlight another iconic film – Howl’s Moving Castle.

“One of my favorite Miyazaki creations is the 2004 fantasy epic Howl’s Moving Castle, which is one of the most commercially successful Japanese films in history,” the designer shared in a press release. “Blending hand-drawn and digital animation, Howl’s Moving Castle is technically innovative, exemplifying the power of craft as a bridge between the old and new — a creative approach that Loewe is proud to share.” He continued, “In the collection, we pushed creativity with bold, intricately crafted pieces designed to bring the world of the film, literally, to life. Key pieces embody the beloved characters and backdrops, giving wearers the chance to identify with the film on a deep level and escape into its rich layers. It’s almost like handcrafted virtual reality in wearable form.”

Lensed in a campaign shot by Juergen Teller and starring Taylor Russell, Hyunji Shin, Rianne Van Rompaey, Oliver O’Sullivan and a sheep, the range features ready-to-wear items as well as handbags and accessories. Fans of the film will notice iconic characters and motifs such as Calcifer the fire demon, Markl, Heen, Turnip Head and the Witch of the Waste. Calcifer’s googly eyes appear on fiery shirts as well as the Puzzle Bag, AirPods cases, scarves, beanies and more. Other bags in the lineup include the Flamenco, Hammock, Amazona, Luna and Bracelet, while standouts include the Moving Castle Bag featuring multiple attachments to replicate the look of Howl’s Moving Castle from the movie. Elsewhere, Calcifer is also added to a scented candle boasting a smoky aroma with notes of incense, immortelle, patchouli, vetiver, roasted hazelnut, cardamom and elemi.

Take a full look at the collection above and below. The final Loewe x Studio Ghibli collaboration spanning ready-to-wear, bags and accessories will officially launch on February 2 in select stores worldwide. The pre-sale will begin on the Loewe website on February 1 giving registered members exclusive access to the items, while select Calcifer pieces will be online exclusive. Those based in the U.S. can shop the collection exclusively at a special pop-up at Saks Fifth Avenue from February 2 to 8. You can register for pre-sale access here. Prices range from $155 to $3,300 USD for leather goods, while RTW items start from $420 USD.
