Griff Puts Her Spin on the ASICS GEL-CUMULUS 16
The British singer-songwriter brings ballet-inspired ribbon lacing and everyday comfort to the classic runner.
ASICS Sportstyle is stepping into a new era with British singer-songwriter Griff, linking up to bring us the new GEL-CUMULUS 16. The collaboration blends the worlds of music, movement and personal style into one seriously chic sneaker.
Dressed in an all-black colorway, the silhouette arrives with a standout ribbon lacing system inspired by ballet aesthetics, bringing a delicate yet powerful energy to the performance-rooted model. The design explores the connection between movement and self-expression, while nodding to ASICS’ founding philosophy, “Anima Sana in Corpore Sano,” a sound mind in a sound body.
The sneaker also reflects Griff’s own styling habits. Taking cues from her love of pairing socks with loafers, the design embraces a layered look that balances this softness with structure. “I wanted the shoe to feel like an extension of my everyday style,” shared Griff. “I wanted to make it playful and elegant but also comfortable and something I can style from studio days to performing on stage to simply living my life.”
Developed over 18 months, the GEL-CUMULUS 16 by Griff celebrates feminine energy, community and the rhythm of city life. To mark the launch, ASICS will host an immersive pop-up in Hackney, London, designed by Kat Milne from June 12 to 14.
The sneaker will be available to shop from June 12 via the ASICS website and select retail stores.
