6lack Announces Upcoming Album ‘S.I.H.A.L.’ Dropping in March

It’s his first LP in over four years.

6lack has taken to social media to announce his upcoming album, S.I.H.A.L.

“And finally, we’re 6ack, March 2023 — #SIHAL , he captioned a video of a billboard with the word “6ack,” which references the stylization in his stage name. “PRE ORDER IS LIVE + link in bio. 6ack pronounced Back.”

In 2016, 6lack, whose real name is Ricardo Valdez Valentine Jr., dropped his debut studio album, Free 6lack, which put him on the map thanks to his single “Prblms.” In 2018, he released his sophomore LP, East Atlanta Letters. In 2020, he put out his first EP — 6pc Hot EP, followed by a Christmas rap EP with Summer Walker and Love Renaissance titled Home for the Holidays Vol. 2.

While discussing the art of collaborating with other artists, 6lack previously hinted at what his new music could sound like. “Whatever I learned [from these collabs], it’s fun to bring it back to my world and say, ‘Okay, well, I did an up-tempo pop song last year,’ and I’m trying to figure out like how to make something with some movement this year,” he told HollywoodLife. “I can take what I learned from that song and apply it to this, or I can take what I learned from an Afrobeat song and apply it to this, or I can take what I learned from being on a song with Gorillaz and Elton John, and like discover my voice in a new way that I wouldn’t have discovered on my own. So, always fun to work with other people.”
