Holzweiler Went Under the Sea for FW23 Collection

Nature seemed to serve as a key source of inspiration for the designers that showcased their Fall/Winter 2023 collections at Copenhagen Fashion Week. While Stine Goya looked to snow and ice for her presentation, Susanne and Andreas Holzweiler were influenced by the ocean breeze for their latest show.

Following last season’s parachute references, the Norwegian brand staged a catwalk with white coral-like installations. Everything from whales in the Norwegian Sea to Japanese freedivers on the search for pearls was the theme of the collection, aptly titled “DEEP SEA.”

The opening look featured a pastel yellow puffer coat with a knit skirt underneath, while the model carried a pink baby pouch highlighted with lengthy seaweed-esque attachments hanging all the way to the floor, reenacting the look of sea organisms. The theme continued on accessories and garments, presented in a balance between colorful palettes of yellows, pinks, blues and greens, as well as washed denim, neutral beige and brown. Cozy knits accompanied wide-legged trousers, and cardigans and sweaters of different lengths were layered atop one another.

Large puffer scarves were dragged down the runway as models donned ultra-dewy — almost glossy — skin and slicked-back hair. “Oceanic Exploration” text was found on crewnecks as part of the collection’s theme, followed by a dramatic, all-white look consisting of a balaclava, knit jacket, skirt and boots that was contrasted with an all-black puffer coat in the finale.
