Jenna Ortega Is Saddened by the Death of the Original Wednesday Addams
Lisa Loring played the pig-tailed storm cloud in the 1964 sitcom.
For most of us, Christina Ricci and Jenna Ortega are our Wednesday Addams, but the original goth girl was played by actor Lisa Lorings, who tragically died on January 28 from a stroke.
Ortega paid tribute to the late star on January 31, posting two black and white images of Lorings as Addams on her Instagram story, writing, “Absolutely devastated. Thanks for everything.” The 1964 sitcom series, which sparked our collective love of all things black and macabre, was originally a cartoon for The New Yorker, illustrated by Charles Addams. The unconventional family clearly sparked a revolution as the TV show gave way to countless adaptations, including the Netflix series in which Ortega plays the titular role as has even received Golden Globes and Screen Actor Guild nominations.
Loring is survived by two daughters, Marianne and Vanessa, who confirmed her passing with Variety, sharing, “She went peacefully with both her daughters holding her hands.”
