Priscavera Creates a '90s Fantasy for FW23

Starring sheer fabric and grungy prints.

While Priscavera is only eight years old, the New York-based brand is throwing it back to the ’90s for its Fall/Winter 2023 collection, delivering a vintage-inspired feel for New York Fashion Week.

Grounded in a considered color palette of black, lilac, red and gray, the collection is broken up with splashes of grungy patterns from its era of choice, featuring a dizzying array of prints. Designer Prisca Franchetti brought a slightly more relaxed approach to the assortment of garments, creating looks for daytime affairs as she shares with Vogue, “It’s not only about partying, but building a wardrobe for everyday wear.”

Franchetti’s typically bold aesthetic is not completely left behind as pieces offer a subtle degree of sexiness. Skin is on full display, whether it’s with the help of artful tailoring or sheer fabric. Shimmering iridescent dresses join breezy milk blue blouses and early aughts slips. A tuxedo dress immediately catches the eye with its daringly deep neckline and side slights that are begging for a teasing glance. Elsewhere, inventive tailoring results in ruching placed underneath chest pockets for added emphasis. Alongside it, a mini dress featuring a cleavage baring silhouette complete with dramatic sleeves would be well-suited for a young Morticia Addams.

Priscavera is unafraid to play as the label casually mixes electric green plaid prints and houndstooth. The latter print is reimagined as a corset with an attached shrug and matching pants, immediately standing out from the pack. The brand logo is also given a fashionable update as it’s woven into a dog paw pattern that resembles a serial code from afar.
