HELIOT EMIL FW23: Manipulation, a Burning Man and Avril Lavigne
The Danish brand’s PFW showcase drew inspiration from English abstract artist, Henry Moore.
HELIOT EMIL presented its Fall/Winter 2023 collection at Paris Fashion Week, drawing inspiration from the sculptural works of English abstract artist Henry Moore.
Dubbed “Connected Forms,” the collection took cues from Moore’s use of the human body as a reference point for his sculptures, alongside his use of texture and material manipulation. Co-founder Julius Juul aimed to offer the same emphasis on texture within his own collection, achieved through experimentation with heat, water and “extensive tear.” As a result, the FW23 offering included a model who was seemingly on actual fire. Like, literal flames.
Elsewhere, the collection drew parallels from sculpture and art through curved zips, asymmetrical details and exaggerated, morphed silhouettes. In line with the brand’s experimental nature, Julius tapped Stefano Cornali and Mirko Zambelli for a unique, custom audio soundtrack for the showcase, inspired by Cornali and Zambelli’s own interpretation of the collection.
Entirely funded by HELIOT EMIL, the FW23 showcase offered an artistic exploration of silhouettes and sculpture, experimenting with even the smallest details to create a visually arresting display of form and function.
