A New Yayoi Kusama Installation Is Coming to the UK
“You, Me and the Balloons” will premiere as part of Manchester’s International Festival this summer.
Manchester International Festival just announced its line-up for 2023, and there’s a lot to get excited about.
Aside from emerging and established artists like Ryan Gander, Tino Sehgal and Jenn Nkiru, this year’s programme will play host to an all-new installation by Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.
Created especially for Factory International’s new flagship venue, Kusama’s “You, Me and the Balloons” will be the first work to be presented inside Factory’s new building, bringing together a curated selection of the artist’s most notable, inflatable artworks. The installation will mark Kusama’s largest-ever immersive environment, comprising striking pieces that are over ten feet tall, made up of giant dolls, tendrilled landscapes and polka-dot spheres.
MIF will return to Manchester on June 29 and will be available to visit till July 16. For more information on how to book tickets or for the full programme of events, head to the festival website.
