Selena Gomez Becomes the First Woman To Reach 400 Million Followers on Instagram
She recently dethroned Kylie Jenner as IG’s most-followed woman.
Selena Gomez has made Instagram history by being the first-ever woman to reach 400 million followers.
Currently, only three IG accounts have more followers than Gomez — the official Instagram account has 618+ million, followed by Cristiano Ronaldo, who has 562+ million followers and Leo Messi, who has 442 million followers.
After Gomez comes Kylie Jenner, who has 382 million followers. However, in February, Gomez dethroned Jenner. Since then, the singer-slash-actor has gained over 20 million followers. The spark in followers could be due to the publicity Gomez has received in her alleged drama with Hailey Bieber. In the last couple weeks, many fans have taken sides. As a result, the Rhode founder has lost over one million followers on the social media platform.
The drama has also transcended into Justin Bieber‘s music career. In early March, “Beauty and a Beat” featuring Nicki Minaj earned its largest-ever streaming day despite the fact the song was released in 2012. The track contains a famous lyrics referencing Gomez, who was dating the musician at the time the song dropped.
