The RealReal Will No Longer Offer Beauty

The RealReal is bidding farewell to the beauty business.
According to WWD, the buzzy luxury consignment business is “reallocating resources” and “prioritizing efforts on growing the luxury consignment business.” For the brand, beauty was a small piece of its marketplace which is heavy on fashion-forward buys. “We’ll continue to sell through the existing inventory and sunset the category.” A spokesman from The RealReal stated to WWD.
The RealReal opened up the beauty category in 2018, featuring an assortment of hot-to-trot beauty products but with other major retailers opening up the beauty categories and tailoring the experience to fit the targeted brand’s audience, The RealReal immediately caught the low winds of shareholder demands for return on investment.
